October 4, 2024 Vancouver

We slept well and had coffee with Cat before she left for work. It was a rainy start to the morning. We walked, in moderate rain, the half block to Breka Bakery for a light breakfast. Although we had our umbrellas packed, we just put up the hoods on our waterproof jackets.

Once the rain stopped mid morning, we walked the two kilometres to The Boathouse Restaurant at Kits Point to meet Larry’s aunt and cousin for lurch. The view from the restaurant  was of False Creek as it empties into English Bay, then Burrard Inlet. If we remember tomorrow as the ship heads out to the Pacific Ocean, after passing under the Lions Gate bridge and passing Stanley Park we could look to the south and see Kitsilano Beach and the Boathouse Restaurant.

After lunch we walked a little over two kilometres to Granville Island and wandered along the lanes and the Granville market. From the marina on False Creek we could see the Burrard Street Bridge and the Granville Street Bridge. We took pictures of Granville Island from the Granville Street Bridge on our way back to Cat’s place. At the foot of the bridge we noticed an unusually shaped 59 storey apartment building called Vancouver House. It’s first nine floors are not as wide as the upper storeys which gradually increase in square feet per floor.

We walked to the Yaletown Brewing Co. for dinner. We had a table on the patio and watched the people heading to the B.C. Lions football game or the Vancouver Canucks hockey games from the Yaletown-Roadhouse SkyTrain station. We were back to Cat’s Place by sunset.

We walked over 12 kilometres today.
